Downton Abbey Season 4 is not due for an airing here in the States until January 2014 but the UK will be seeing the seriews in just over a week.

ITV, the UK Station behind the series, has announced the first episode of the fourth series of Downton Abbey will go out on Sunday September 22nd, 2013.

The premiere will be an hour and a half special, broadcast between 9pm and 10.30pm.

The fourth series, set in 1922, sees the return of our much loved characters in the sumptuous setting of Downton Abbey. As they face new challenges, the Crawley family and the servants who work for them remain inseparably interlinked.

The series four trailer promises a lot of high drama, including a possible new partner for Lady Mary following the shock death of her husband Matthew Crawley in the Christmas episode.

New Cast for Downton Abbey Season 4

Downton Abbey, 403 - Tom Cullen

Tom Cullen is Lord Gillingham. Lord Gillingham joins in Episode 3. He is an old family friend of the Crawley’s and comes to Downton for a big house party. He is dashing and charming and having had similar experiences with his own inheritance gives Lady Mary advice on the Downton estate and in particular the issue of death duties. He brings with him, his valet Green, played by Nigel Harman.

Gary Carr is Jack Ross who joins in Episode 4. Ross is a charming, suave and charismatic jazz singer from Chicago. He sings at the Lotus jazz club in London which is visited one night by Lady Mary, the vivacious Lady Rose, Branson and Lady Rosamund.

Julian Ovenden is Charles Blake who joins in Episode 5. Charles Blake visits the estate with Evelyn Napier, played by Brendan Patricks, whom we first met in Series 1. Napier brought with him the dashing Turkish Diplomat Kemal Pamuk, who later died in Lady Mary’s bed .

Evelyn and Charles are evaluating the economic health of big estates around the country in order to help them run more efficiently. He and Lady Mary take an instant dislike to each other.
