Here is the lowdown to the series as a whole.
Arrow – Series background
Based on characters appearing in comic books and graphic novels published by DC Comics, Arrow is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Greg Berlanti (Green Lantern, Brothers & Sisters), Marc Guggenheim (Eli Stone, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters) and Andrew Kreisberg (Warehouse 13, The Vampire Diaries). Melissa Kellner Berman (Eli Stone, Dirty Sexy Money) is co-executive producer.
After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell, Private Practice, Hung) was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. He returned home to Starling City, welcomed by his devoted mother Moira (Susanna Thompson, Cold Case, Kings), beloved sister Thea (Willa Holland, Gossip Girl, The OC) and former flame Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy, Melrose Place, Gossip Girl).
With the aid of his trusted chauffeur/bodyguard John Diggle (David Ramsey, Dexter, Blue Bloods), the computer-hacking skills of Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) and the occasional, reluctant assistance of former police detective, now beat cop, Quentin Lance (Paul Blackthorne, The River, The Gates), Oliver has been waging a one-man war on crime.
But like all wars, there are casualties. Season one ended with Oliver unable to prevent the destruction of the Glades, the poorest section of Starling City, and the death of his closest friend. Adding salt to the wound is the fact that Oliver’s mother aided and abetted this plot, leading to her incarceration in Iron Heights Prison.
Meanwhile, Thea has rebuilt her life with the help of her new boyfriend, Roy Harper (Colton Haynes, Teen Wolf), and her job running Oliver’s nightclub, Verdant. When Thea is abducted by vigilantes inspired by Oliver’s crusade, Oliver must rededicate himself to his mission – but he knows that this time he must be more than just another vigilante. For his fallen friend, and to protect the people he loves, he must become a beacon of hope for the city’s most vulnerable, and a weapon of justice against those who prey upon them…
