Fantastic Four (2015) unfortunately follows what a lot of us thought when we first heard about it, “Why” and “am I bothered!”.

Miles Teller stars as teen-scientist Reed Richards, with Jamie Bell as his high school buddy. Reg E Cathey from House of Cards is Dr Storm, Michael B Jordan is Storm’s delinquent son Johnny, Kate Mara is his adopted daughter Sue. Meanwhile the villains are Tim Blake Nelson a military-friendly scientist and Toby Kebbel as Victor von Doom.

Fantastic Four review by AO Scott

[quote_box_center][In] my 2005 review of the first Fantastic Four origin story, which I said was “fantastic only in its commitment to mediocrity.” That’s still true, though a decade later it’s true in different ways.

Ms Mara… character also has the power to make other things vanish. I would say she should have exercised it on this movie, but in a week or two that should take care of itself.[/quote_box_center]

Fantastic Four review by Kenneth Turan

[quote_box_center]Unlike most other movies from the Marvel Comics universe, Fantastic Four, in its first half at least, is determined to tell its origins story of brainy kids working on the science project of a lifetime, with an emphasis on the reality and believability of the characters and their relationships with one another.

Once those super powers kick in, the whole film goes into a more standard gear. We’ve seen it all before, and it’s safe to say we’ll be seeing it all again as well.

I believe new Fantastic Four movie could have been better than it is. But it’s not.[/quote_box_center]

Fantastic Four review by Henry Barnes

[quote_box_center]The latest Marvel comic-book adventure is straining for indie credibility while moving at a glacial pace – wasting some fine actors in the process.

The cast are some of the most promising actors of their generation, but what chemistry there is between them is swept away by wave after wave of expository dialogue and ludicrous exclamation.

A sequel has been announced for June 2017…[/quote_box_center]

Fantastic Four review by Clark Collis

[quote_box_center]A pretty terrific group of actors… are given precious little to do in this clunky origin story.

In fairness, the film is not bad bad, although it might have been more fun if it were.[/quote_box_center]
