Here’s the first real Downton Abbey Series 6 Trailer and it is time to say goodbye to the likes of Violet (Maggie Smith), Robert (Hugh Bonneville) and Anna (Joanne Froggatt). 🙁

ITV, who air the series in the UK, have confirmed Sunday September 20th 2015 will be the date of it’s first airing of Series 6, the last, of Downton Abbey.

Producer of Downton Abbey, Gareth Neame announcing that this series would be the last said, “Millions of people around the world have followed the journey of the Crawley family and those who serve them for the last five years. Inevitably there comes a time when all shows should end and Downton is no exception.”

ITV’s Director of Television, Peter Fincham has also commented on the ending saying, “When Julian Fellowes and Gareth Neame brought us the idea for Downton Abbey six years ago we thought it would be a great Sunday night series for ITV, but we had no way of knowing that it would become a global phenomenon”

On the very last episode he remarked “Christmas Day on ITV this year will certainly be one to remember, as the concluding special brings a series to an end that started as a leap of faith for all of us, and ended surpassing all expectations.”

Fans in US will have to wait until the start of next year as the premiere of Downton Abbey Series 6 in the Masterpiece slot on PBS is on Sunday, January 3rd 2016. In the meantime this trailer will have to suffice…
