Star Wars 7 European Premiere took place in London’s Leicester Square on December 16th 2015 with a host of stars and production people, many of whom seemed to have traveled the World in promoting The Force Awakens.
The UK is where the original films were made and this new production is also filmed in the UK over in Pinewood studios, also home to James Bond.
As well as Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and her dog (who takes a dislike to the BB-8 droid) we have:- Warwick Davis, Producer Kathleen Kennedy, south London boy John Bodega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver and Gwendoline Christie. We also hear from screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan, Max von Sydow aka Lor San Tekka, Simon Pegg, Danny Baker and Oscar Isaac. Creator George Lucas is on hand as is Director/ Screenwriter/ Producer JJ Abrams. Finally we have Anthony Daniels aka C-3PO who wishes that Star Wars “should really never end”.
There was a nice light show produced with lasers at the start and the event finishes with Nelson’s Column in Trafalgar Square in central London being turned into a giant light sabre!
By this weekend Star Wars: The Force Awakens will have opened most places around the world but then there will only be a year’s wait for the next Star Wars film, Star Wars: Rogue One (2016). This is an off-shoot from the films. A year after that we be seeing many of these The Force Awakens characters return.
