Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling star in the new comedy action flick The Nice Guys, which opens this Friday, May 20th. During the press roundtables for the film, each spoke of their interesting upcoming projects.
Russell’s upcoming The Mummy
Russell Crowe will be co-starring in an updated version of The Mummy with Tom Cruise which just started filming and will be released on June 9, 2017. “I’m going to play Dr Henry Jekyll, Fellow of the Royal Society,’ the actor told us. ‘It’s very interesting what they are going to do with it. This one is more designed to seriously scare the shit out of you.’
‘I’ve known Tom Cruise since 1992,’ he added, ‘and when he was married to an Australian I was really good friends with him, but when he got divorced I was part of the settlement and I went to Nicole (Kidman).’ (he laughs).
The movie is being helmed by first-time director Alex Kurtzman (writer/producer of Star Trek, The Amazing Spider-Man 2), and Russell was asked if he was worried about that fact. Click here to listen to his reply.
Ryan’s upcoming La La Land
The musical La La Land opens on December 16, 2016. It stars Ryan Gosling as Sebastian, a jazz pianist who is falls in love with a young actress named Mia (Stone). The movie was written and directed by Damien Chazelle (Whiplash, 10 Cloverfield Lane).
Not known for his singing and dancing abilities, Gosling laughs, “I gave it a shot and had a great time. I really had a special experience on that movie. Damien is an incredible filmmaker and it was a big undertaking for him for his second film. I’m very excited for people to see the movie.’
‘Em and I practiced for a month and a half just for one scene,’ he continued, ‘ because we had to do it at magic hour and we only would have 4 or 5 takes, and we had to get it in one of them.’
We asked Ryan if the musical numbers were done on a soundstage or on location – click here to find out the answer
