We already knew that Game of Thrones End was not far away. This has now been confirmed by HBO themselves just weeks are announcing season seven.

Game of Thrones End

The producers David Benioff and DB Weiss had said in interviews after this years Game of Thrones Season 6 that George RR Martin’s story only had a little way to go. They speculated that maybe 13 or 15 more episodes.

HBO have confirmed that the show will end with Game of Thrones Season 8.

Game of Thrones Season 7

Only a couple of weeks ago HBO told us that Game of Thrones Season 7 will begin shooting its next season later this summer. This latest timing is due to the mainly winter scenes that are going to be needed. Presumably these will be recorded in the later part of the shooting.

As a result of the later start rather than a Easter airing Game of Thrones Season 7 will be aired in the Summer of 2017. We were also told that the season would only consist of seven episodes rather than the previous normal of ten episodes.

Game of Thrones Season 8, final season

HBO have said for Game of Thrones Season 8 they will take as many episodes as the producers judge appropriate. Therefore this is looking like six to eight episodes. Perhaps, most likely, another seven?

Speculation is about the massive library that was revealed at the end of Game of Thrones Season 6. This had with a ‘chandler’ like object hanging in there that looked like the metal ring in the title sequence. The thought is this holds the clue to Game of Thrones End and t’s resolution.
