Keegan-Michael Key and Empire star Taraji P Henson are both set to be guest voice stars in the first one-hour long episode of The Simpsons. This due to air in January 2017.
Executive producer Al Jean made a somewhat political statement about this episode saying “I just pray it won’t be the last thing people see before a Trump inauguration”.
The Simpsons 28th season
The Simpsons is already in the record history books with its upcoming 28th season. This starts on Sunday September 25th 2016. The first episode is called “Monty Burns’ Fleeing Circus”. Here we have Springfield burned to the ground. The Simpsons are then begging Mr Burns (Harry Shearer) to fund its rebuilding. Burns agrees but with one condition. He wants to put on a variety show at the Springfield Bowl…
A few weeks later we have the series’ record-setting 600th episode airing on Sunday October 16th 2016. This is a classic “Treehouse of Horror XXVII” episode. In it, Mr Burns introduces a “Hunger Games”-style contest. Springfield’s children must fight each other. We then have Lisa’s imaginary best friend becomes jealous of Lisa’s real best friends.
The Simpsons One-Hour Episode
In 2017 we get the one-hour episode “The Great Phatsby”. In this Mr Burns (Harry Shearer) tries to relive his glory days which involved a mysterious music mogul. However he is conned by him and reduced to bankruptcy. So Mr Burns seeks revenge. In this he has the help of Homer, Bart, rapper Jazzy James (guest voice Keegan-Michael Key) along with the mogul’s ex-wife, Praline (guest voice Taraji P Henson).
Also in the episode, Lisa (Yeardley Smith) is courted by the richest kid in town. Smithers (Shearer) begins a perilous journey and Marge (Julie Kavner) opens an obscure boutique store.
The Simpsons started back in 1989 and has featured voice stars Dan Castellaneta as Homer Simpson, Julie Kavner as Marge Simpson, Nancy Cartwright as Bart Simpson and Yardley Smith as Lisa Simpson. The series also has had many guest voices including Jay Leno in Season 27 (below).
