Can you remake on the classic 1960’s movie The Magnificent Seven for todays audience?.. And also still have it as good as the original?
The original The Magnificent Seven (1960) starred Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen and Charles Bronson! It also came with a brilliant score by Elmer Bernstein. So, as you see, the new version will have a lot to live up to!
The focus is on the town of Rose Creek which is under the deadly control of industrialist Bartholomew Bogue (Peter Sarsgaard). The townspeople are obviously unhappy and desperate. Lead by Emma Cullen (Haley Bennett) they hit upon the idea of employing protection. This comes in the form of seven outlaws who are bounty hunters, gamblers and hired guns!
The seven are Sam Chisolm (Denzel Washington), Josh Farraday (Chris Pratt), Goodnight Robicheaux (Ethan Hawke), Jack Horne (Vincent D’Onofrio), Billy Rocks (Byung-Hun Lee), Vasquez (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), and Red Harvest (Martin Sensmeier).
We know a violent showdown is surely coming. The mercenaries prepare the town and in the process find themselves fighting for more than just the money.
Antoine Fuqua directed his modern vision with a screenplay by Nic Pizzolatto and Richard Wenk.
