Three cast members for the new Star Trek: Discovery series have just been confirmed by CBS. They are Doug Jones, Michelle Yeoh, and Anthony Rapp.

Three actors cast for Star Trek: Discovery

Michelle Yeoh had already been mentioned last week by series Producer Nicholas Meyer (Director of Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan fame). At the time speculation was she might be the lead character but her role announced today says otherwise. She is Captain Georgiou… the Starfleet Captain aboard the Starship Shenzhou! Note this is not the ship in the title of the series.

Michelle is perhaps best know for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon made in the year 2000. This year she starred in TV Series Marco Polo as Lotus.

Doug Jones will star as Lt Saru, a Starfleet Science Officer and a new alien species to the Star Trek universe. Doug has a lot of TV work to his name and is rumoured to star in the upcoming Hellboy 3.

Anthony Rapp will star as Lt Stamets, an astromycologist, fungus expert, and Starfleet Science Officer aboard the Starship Discovery. Note this is the title ship. Anthony appeared in A Beautiful Mind in 2001 and also has a lot of TV roles to his credit.

Star Trek: Discovery Airing Mid 2017

As previously announced, Star Trek: Discovery will now premiere in May 2017 on CBS All Access, the CBS Television Network’s subscription video on-demand and live streaming service. The first episode only is believed to also be shown on the main CBS to bring in the audience.
