In the Doctor Who Christmas Special 2016 Trailer your see the Doctor team up with a comic-book superhero in New York.
The story is a heroic special written by Steven Moffat and titled “The Return of Doctor Mysterio”.
The hit BBC America series will return on Christmas day. In the special the Doctor, played by Peter Capaldi, also teams up with an investigative journalist, played by Charity Wakefield (Wolf Hall, The Player).
Steven Moffat, Writer and Executive Producer, said: “I’ve always loved superheroes and this Christmas, Doctor Who dives into that world. My favorite superhero is Clark Kent. Not Superman, Clark Kent.”
The superhero Grant will be played by Justin Chatwin who is know for Orphan Black and the American Shameless. He praised the Doctor Who team saying: “Working with the amazing people at Doctor Who has been one of the most fun and rewarding projects I’ve ever had the pleasure of being involved with.”
Matt Lucas (Nardole) will again be in the cast of the Christmas Special. Joining him is Adetomiwa Edun (Lucifer, Bates Motel), Aleksandar Jovanovic and Logan Hoffman.
The 60-minute Doctor Who Christmas Special will air on BBC America. It is written by Steven Moffat, executive produced by Brian Minchin and produced by Peter Bennett. Ed Bazalgette, of Poldark fame, has directed this Christmas Special. It was shot in Cardiff at BBC Wales Roath Lock Studios.
