Rey (Daisy Ridley) handed Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) his old lightsaber at the end of Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015). The new film is likely to start off a this point. Could Luke be the Last Jedi in the title?

Carrie Fisher’s role of Princess Leia in this movie was recorded before her recent death. She was contracted to also appear in Star Wars 9 but producers have already ruled out using CGI. Star Wars: The Last Jedi will therefore be the last appearance of Carrie and her character.
