Bill Paxton, who is currently starring in the TV series Training Day, has died from complications of surgery. He was only 61.

Our LA Editor Judy Sloane saw Bill at the TCAs last month for Training Day. Judy called him as one of the nicest actors. Our picture below shows him at the previous TCA doing advanced publicity.

Bill Paxton co-starred in various blockbusters including Titanic, Apollo 13 and Aliens. He was also in the praised tv drama Big Love.

His death was announced today, Sunday, by a family representative and although it was not in the statement it is believed that he died yesterday, Saturday.

His current show Training Day is a crime thriller that begins 15 years after the events of the feature film starring Denzel Washington. The series premiered this month with four episodes so far broadcast. This leaves 9 further episodes for the 13 episodes mid-season replacement series.

In the series Bill Paxton plays morally ambiguous veteran detective partnered with a young, idealistic police officer.

Unfortunately Training Day has not done so well in the ratings. With Bill’s death it looks like there will not be a second series, even without him.

We talked to Bill previously back in 2015 about his role in Texas Rising. You can read that here as well as listen to him in a couple of soundbytes.
