Star Trek: Discovery‘s launch date was announced today for September 24th 2017 plus we also have some new artwork.
The series was originally going to launch new shows on CBS All Access in January 2017. This was then put back to May 2017 and then put on hold while the production was given more time to organise.
Star Trek: Discovery‘s release schedule
The Premiere will be on the main CBS Television Network at 8:30 ET / 7:30CT. It will also be available on-demand on CBS All Access with the second episode of the series also available that same night. That will be immediately following the broadcast premiere.
After premiere night, all new episodes will be available on-demand weekly on Sundays exclusively for CBS All Access subscribers in the US.
15-Episode Season Will Roll Out in Two ‘Chapters’. The First eight Episodes Will run from Sunday September 24th 2017 through to Sunday November 5th 2017. The second ‘Chapter’ then resume the series in January 2018. This seems to allow the production team more time to work on the second half of the season.
Star Trek: Discovery‘s story
Star Trek: Discovery focuses on, not the Caption of the ship, but First Officer Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green). The actress playing that role is best know for her role in The Walking Dead.
In the trailer released last month we saw Spock’s father advising Burnham. We also had an unknown object on the edge of Federation space and the ship engaging the Klingons.
In addition to the main show there will be a companion after-show, Talking Trek, also presented on CBS All Access.
