Ready Player One Lowdown

From filmmaker Steven Spielberg comes the action adventure Ready Player One. The movie is based on Ernest Cline’s bestseller of the same name, which has become a worldwide phenomenon.

The real world is a harsh place in the year 2045. The only time Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) truly feels alive is when he escapes to the OASIS. It is an immersive virtual universe where most of humanity spends their days.

In the OASIS, you can go anywhere, do anything, be anyone—the only limits are your own imagination. The brilliant and eccentric James Halliday (Mark Rylance) created The OASIS. He has left his immense fortune and total control of the Oasis to the winner of a three-part contest he designed to find a worthy heir. When Wade conquers the first challenge of the reality-bending treasure hunt, he and his friends—called the High Five—are hurled into a fantastical universe of discovery and danger to save the OASIS and their world.

Three-time Oscar winner Steven Spielberg directed the film from a screenplay by Zak Penn and Ernest Cline. It’s based on the novel by Cline. Donald De Line, Kristie Macosko Krieger, Spielberg, and Dan Farah produced Ready Player One. Adam Somner, Daniel Lupi, Chris deFaria and Bruce Berman served as executive producers.

The cast includes Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn, Lena Waithe, TJ Miller, Philip Zhao, Win Morisaki, Hannah John-Kamen, with Simon Pegg and Mark Rylance.

Ready Player One opens on March 29th, 2018 in 2D and 3D in select theatres and IMAX. Warner Bros Pictures, and Village Roadshow Pictures in select territories will distributed the film.

This film has been rated PG-13.
