The John Lewis: Good Trouble film documentary chronicles the life and career of the legendary civil rights activist. During the time he was also the Democratic Representative from Georgia.
The film uses interviews and rare archival footage to chronical John Robert Lewis’ history. He had 60-plus years of social activism and legislative action. These years covered civil rights, voting rights, gun control, health-care reform and immigration.
We also have present-day interviews with Lewis who is now 80 years old. The documentary explores his childhood experiences, his inspiring family and his fateful meeting with Dr Martin Luther King Jr in 1957. In addition we also have interviews with Lewis’s family. The cinéma verité film also includes interviews with political leaders, Congressional colleagues, and other people who figure prominently in his life.
Director and notable featured people
The film is directed by acclaimed filmmaker Dawn Porter. She is know for documentary’s Trapped and Gideon’s Army. Her next project is about Pete Souza who was the Chief Official White House Photographer from 2009 to 2017.
