Actress Ann Down aka Aunt Lydia

Ann Down was the recipient of the 2017 Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role as “Aunt Lydia” on Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale.

Her recent film credits include Captain Fantastic, Collateral Beauty, as well as Compliance. For that she was named Best Supporting Actress of the Year by the National Board of Review. Other film appearances where in Our Brand in Crisis, Bachelorette, The Drop, Side Effects, The Informant!, Marley & Me and Garden State.

Her television roles include The Leftovers for which she received an Emmy nomination for her performance as Patti Levin. Other television credit are for Good Behavior, Quarry, Masters of Sex, Olive Kitteridge, Louie, The Divide, Freaks and Geeks and Nothing Sacred.

She has also been seen on Broadway in The Seagull, Taking Sides and Candida.

The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4 Lowdown

In The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4 our main character, June (Elisabeth Moss), takes on the role of fierce rebel leader and strikes back against Gilead. However the risks she takes bring unexpected and dangerous new challenges. He quest is for justice and revenge but this threatens to consume her. It could also destroy her most cherished relationships.

The series is adapted from the classic novel by Margaret Atwood, The Handmaid’s Tale. It is the story of life in the dystopia of Gilead, a totalitarian society in what was formerly the United States. Offred (Elizabeth Moss) is one of the few fertile women in this world. They are known as Handmaids in the oppressive Republic of Gilead. She struggles to survive as a reproductive surrogate for a powerful Commander and his resentful wife.
