The Reminiscence trailer teases classic film noir for this water logged Sci-Fi action thriller. The movie stars Hugh Jackman, Rebecca Ferguson and Thandiwe Newton. It also has Westworld‘s Lisa Joy as writer, director and producer!
The story involves Nick Bannister (Hugh), who is a private investigator of the mind. We see him navigate the darkly alluring world of the past while helping his clients access lost memories.
As the film starts we see he is living on the fringes of the sunken Miami coast. All seems wet but well… However, when he takes on Mae (Rebecca) as a new client his life is forever changed.
At first it seems like a simple matter of lost and found but it becomes a dangerous obsession. As Bannister fights to find the truth about Mae’s disappearance, he uncovers a violent conspiracy. Ultimately, we see he must answer the question: “how far would you go to hold on to the ones you love”?

Theatrical release schedule signals a new film world
It is set for release nationwide in theaters on August 20th, 2021. It will also be available on HBO Max in UHD, HDR10, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos on supported devices for 31 days from theatrical release. (Ed: That’s interesting to note. Warners are now changing the same day releases to a month after the theatrical release. We have also seen a 45 days delay from Disney. Industry experts expect this shortened delay to become the new normal. Previously roughly three months was expected from the cinema theatres. I believe this will be a good thing for the film industry as a whole.)
The film is rated PG-13 for strong violence, drug material throughout, sexual content and some strong language.
The film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.
